Collins (1954); and A Study of the Recruiting Program at Huston-Tillotson College, a survey made in 1959, by William M. Collins; together with president's reports; other college reports; proposals; self-study materials (1969-1993); organizational chart; master plans (1990, 1997); and tenure policy (1952). Records (1956-1958, 0.5 linear ft.) of Dr. J.J. Seabrook, first president of Huston-Tillotson College (1955-1965) consist mostly of correspondence from Dr. William Collins, dean of the college, concerning prospective and current students and faculty. Topics include admissions, scholarships, requests about classes and fees, costs affiliated with student activities, graduation, faculty hiring, and faculty recommendations; together with inauguration programs (1956). Faculty files include Faculty Institute materials (1977-1982) and faculty meeting minutes. Papers of J. Mason Brewer, a faculty member, include book jacket for The Word on the Brazos by Brewer, three news clipping pertaining to the book, a press release for a lecture in Colorado, and a University of Texas press brochure of new books; descriptive order flier for 'Aunt Dicy' Tales by Brewer; news clipping in the 'Southwest Scene', Dallas Morning News, about Brewer (1970); and book, A Pictorial and Historical Souvenir of Negro Life in Austin, Texas, 1950-1951: Who's Who and What's What, by Brewer. Lyndon B. Johnson Memorial Service materials (1973) include memo from Dr. E.A. Delco, Jr., dean of the college, stating the dismissal of classes and the availability of transportation to those wishing to attend the funeral.
